Pultneyville Reformed Church, Pultneyville, NY
The following liturgy can be used for the dedication of a new hymnal:
The Lord be with you,
and also with you.
Lift up your hearts!
We lift them up to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.
Beloved in the Lord, let us make a joyful noise,
Let us worship the Lord with gladness.
Let us enter God’s presence with singing,
for we are God’s people, and the sheep of God’s pasture.
With gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God.
For the Lord is good, eternally steadfast in love, and faithful to all generations.
In order that we may experience that love more fully
and celebrate God’s faithfulness more richly,
it is our rare privilege – this morning – to dedicate new hymnals
for the use of God’s people in the joyful work of worship.
Please lift up a hymnal, and join me in prayer:
Most gracious God,
as surely as we lift up our hearts in worship to you,
so surely we lift up these hymnals to your glory.
We thank you for all who made them possible
and for the resources that enabled us to enjoy them;
we pray for your continued blessings on all who use them,
and ask that – in your generous providence –
they may enable us to worship in unity and harmony
today and in the years to come.
All this we pray in Jesus’ name,
Amen.
